When trying a new mattress, wear comfortable and loose clothing and lie on the bed in your normal sleeping position for at least 5 minutes. Always try on your side as most mattresses will feel good on your back. 5 minutes on your side is enough to know if the pressure build up is acceptable for your hips and shoulders as in your subconscious you will not allow yourself to lay in an uncomfortable position for this length of time and you will instinctively roll away from it.
