A practical guide to assembling your ottoman divan base, including the lifting mechanism and storage compartment.
View Assembly InstructionsA few simple checks will make assembling your new bed easier, safer and more straightforward.
Unpack carefully and check all components against your instructions.
Some components are heavy. Two people may be needed for safe assembly.
Check the guide for any tools or fittings required before starting.
Read the instructions fully before operating moving mechanisms.
Ottoman lifting mechanisms contain powerful gas struts. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions, keep hands clear of moving parts and never allow children to operate the mechanism unsupervised.
A little extra guidance for some of the questions we hear most often.
Divan bases are supplied with either concealed brackets that clip together or U Clips that connect the two parts together. Position the two flat edges together and secure them using the fittings provided.
The exact method varies by model, so please follow the instructions supplied with your particular base.
Headboards attach to the divan using headboard bolts with both wooden strutted and floor-standing types. Locate the fixing points on the base underneath the stickers and carefully pierce the fabric to reveal the fixing points. When fitting a headboard with struts attach the bolts first then slide the wooden struts over the bolts and tighten them by hand after placing it in position. A floorstanding headboard must have the bolts threaded through the back of it once it is in place to attach it to the base.
If the headboard has wooden struts, locate the fixing points on the back of the headboard under the stickers, pierce the fabric and attach the struts using the four bolts supplied. The finished headboard should sit on top of your mattress, if it is too low, check that you have attached the struts the right way up.
When assembling for the first time the lid will be difficult to close without the mattress on top.
Have a helper hold the lid down while you place the mattress in position. The gas pistons supplied are incredibly strong but after opening and closing a few times they loosen up for ease of use.
If the problem persists, stop using the mechanism and contact us.
