HERE TO HELP

Good questions. Straight answers.

Everything you need to know about choosing your mattress, ordering your new bed and enjoying a better night's sleep.

EXPERT GUIDANCE

Mattress advice, made simple.

Understand the different materials and support systems before choosing your new mattress.

What's the difference between open coil and pocket springs?

Open coil mattresses use interconnected springs that move together. They're generally more affordable but can transfer more movement across the mattress.

Pocket sprung mattresses contain individual springs housed in fabric pockets, allowing them to respond more independently to your body. This can improve contouring and reduce movement transfer between sleeping partners.

A higher spring count doesn't automatically mean a firmer or better mattress. Spring tension, construction and comfort fillings all matter.

What mattress firmness should I choose?

The best firmness depends on your sleeping position, body weight and personal preference.

Side sleepers often prefer some cushioning around the shoulders and hips. Back sleepers usually benefit from balanced support, while front sleepers may prefer a firmer feel to help maintain comfortable alignment.

Read our mattress firmness guide for more advice.

What is memory foam?

Memory foam is a pressure-responsive material that gently contours to your body, helping distribute weight and relieve pressure.

Traditional memory foam can retain more heat than some other mattress fillings, although modern designs may include cooling covers, ventilation and alternative foam formulations.

The overall feel and temperature depend on the complete mattress construction, not just the presence of memory foam.

What is latex foam?

Latex is a resilient, responsive material used in mattress comfort layers and toppers. It can be made using natural rubber latex, synthetic latex or a combination of both.

Latex generally offers a more buoyant, responsive feel than traditional memory foam and can be a good option for customers who prefer cushioning without a deep sinking sensation.

How often should I replace my mattress?

There's no fixed rule that every mattress must be replaced after seven years. Its useful lifespan depends on its quality, construction, care and how it has been used.

Consider replacing your mattress if it develops significant sagging, no longer supports you comfortably, or shows signs of wear that affect your sleep.

Using a good mattress protector and following the manufacturer's care instructions can help keep it in better condition.

GET THE FIT RIGHT

Beds, bases & sizes.

A little planning helps ensure your new bed fits your room and supports your mattress properly.

What are the standard UK mattress sizes?

Common UK mattress sizes are:

SizeDimensions
Small Single75 × 190 cm
Single90 × 190 cm
Small Double120 × 190 cm
Double135 × 190 cm
Kingsize150 × 200 cm
Superking180 × 200 cm

Some European and specialist sizes are also available. Always check the product dimensions before ordering, particularly if you're using an existing bedframe.

Which type of bed base is best for my mattress?

The right base should provide stable, even support and be compatible with your mattress.

A solid platform base generally provides a firmer foundation, while sprung slats can slightly soften the overall feel.

Make sure slats are correctly spaced, the frame is assembled securely and the base meets the mattress manufacturer's recommendations.

Can I use my existing bedframe with a new mattress?

Usually, yes, provided the frame is the correct size, structurally sound and offers suitable support for the new mattress.

Check for damaged slats, excessive gaps, sagging or loose fittings before placing your new mattress on the base.

What is the 100 Night Comfort Guarantee?

Selected mattresses include our voluntary 100 Night Comfort Guarantee.

If the comfort isn't right after sleeping on your mattress for at least 30 nights, you can request one exchange between nights 30 and 100, subject to the terms.

A £95 collection and restocking fee applies. The original mattress must be clean and unmarked, and a mattress protector must have been used throughout.

Please read the full Comfort Guarantee terms before purchasing.

Can I return a mattress if I change my mind?

Your rights depend on how you purchased the mattress, when you notify us and the circumstances of the return.

For eligible online purchases, statutory cancellation rights may apply. Our voluntary 100 Night Comfort Guarantee is separate from those rights and offers an exchange, rather than a money-back trial.

Please contact us if you'd like to discuss a return or cancellation so we can explain the process applicable to your order.

What if my mattress develops a fault?

If you believe your mattress has developed a fault, please contact us with your order details and a description of the problem. Photographs may be helpful.
